Aristotle'sThree Appeals

Pathos- Using an emotional appeal
Ethos- The credibility of the speaker or writer

These Appeals, Today

There are weightloss companys give numbers, saying which person weighed how much and what amount of weight they lost and when. These numbers appeal to our logic, statistics can be enough to persuade someone looking for results, that is logos.
Charity organizations have commercials everywere, they use their ads on television to attack you. It happens to anyone who sits around watching television, you hear sad music and see pictures of children and told that they are indeed orphens. These ads usually have a speaker who tells you that for only a little bit of money you can give these children this and that. These commercials can make anyone feel guilty (or annoyed depending on the television show you are whatching, that is pathos.
Tootpaste or toothbrush ads appear with credentials from dentist at times, orthodontist approved or dentist preffered, and what people think when they see or hear that is if the professionals who take care of are teeth thinks it is better than it should be, that is ethos.

Syllogism-
  A logical argument
EX: He used syllogism on his case and has the most pull because his reasoning is the most convincing.

These appeals are so common and intigrated into todays society that they have become simple use and yet most people that use it may not know the name of it and the people that it is being used on have seen it all over and over again in different commercials and yet all of it is still useful and effective because it maybe simple to learn and use but they are still there and they still work.
